How to choose your wedding florist. Once your date is set start by finding your wedding florist. Use recommendations, find local florist shops or look on the internet. Make sure they are in your area so that either you can attend consultations or they can visit you. Ask to see portfolios of their work. When you see designs that you like, make an appointment for a quotation. Check if the florist is free on the wedding date, then give the times, church and venue location. Decide on flower colours and what's in season.
Check that any future consultations are free. Make sure your florist visits the church and venue with you. Give them an idea of all the flowers you will need and ask for a price guide. A quotation is a work in progress and this may change several times. Never be frightened to change your mind or ask the florist to tweak ideas. It is above all, one of the most important days of your life. Let the florist know of any expectations that you have i.e whether you want it to be traditional, themed, wacky, colourful etc so that they can re-create your ideas. Tell them of any favourite flowers you have or of any you have an allergy to. It is important that you have good communication with your florist and are confident that they are on the same wavelength. If not, and you are unsure of their commitment and ability to undertake the job, choose another florist.
